Pattern Shop

The Michigan Steel pattern shop, which covers 3,700 square feet, builds and repairs wood, metal, and fiberglass patterns used in production.  The fully-equipped pattern shop  includes a HURCO CNC milling center which uses Ultimax . The milling center is connected to the engineering and design center.  The engineering department can accept customer models in IGES and Pro/Engineer formats.  Shrink rule and draft are applied to these customer models for subsequent generation of tool paths and pattern construction.

New pattern construction and pattern alterations are also completed by a number of local patterns shops which encompass over 30 journeymen. Additionally,  Michigan Steel has long-term relationships with pattern shops throughout the Midwest and Canada.
